What Sapiens is
Sapiens is a science-based wellness and coaching service. We measure biomarkers of stress, recovery and metabolism, translate them into a personal report, and build a protocol with you. The purpose is performance, energy and personal sustainability.
What Sapiens is not
Sapiens is not a medical service. We do not diagnose disease, we do not treat, we do not prescribe. Your report is not a medical diagnosis and does not replace examination, diagnosis or treatment by a physician of your choice. Nothing in your program should delay you from seeking medical care.
The role of our physicians
The people who read your report with you are licensed medical doctors (approbierte Ärztinnen und Ärzte) with clinical training and/or experts with deep expertise in biology, exercise physiology, health sciences or other related topics. Inside Sapiens they work as health coaches. They interpret your measurements, explain the physiology behind them, and design your protocol across sleep, nutrition, movement and recovery.
What they do not do inside Sapiens: diagnose, treat, prescribe, issue sick notes, provide emergency care or give clinical clearance. No physician-patient treatment relationship (Behandlungsvertrag under §630a BGB) is established through your Sapiens program. Medical care comes from a licensed physician of your choice, outside Sapiens.
What we measure, and what we do not
We measure wellness markers: signals of strain and signals of resilience. Stress hormones, recovery and heart rate patterns, metabolic and micronutrient status, gut composition, and self-reported habits and symptoms.
We do not run panels designed to detect, confirm or exclude disease. We do not analyse your human DNA, so the German Gendiagnostikgesetz does not apply to our tests. We do not perform drug testing.
The ranges in your report are wellness-oriented reference ranges. A value outside a range is a signal to look at, not a diagnosis.
When we point you to a doctor
If a result or an answer you give us suggests something that belongs with a physician, we say so directly and recommend a medical check. We may pause coaching on that specific topic until you confirm you have seen a doctor. That is a referral, not a diagnosis.
Tests and laboratories
Hair and saliva samples are analysed by Dresden Lab Services GmbH in Germany. Gut microbiome samples are analysed by BIOMES. Analyses are performed for wellness purposes and are not intended for medical diagnosis.
Your data
Your health data is special category data under Art. 9 GDPR. We process it only on your explicit, separate consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Samples and measurement data carry a pseudonymised ID, never your name. Data is stored on EU servers, encrypted at rest and in transit. If your program is paid for by your employer, your employer never receives your individual data. Full detail in our privacy policy.
Your rights when you buy
You have a 14-day right of withdrawal on distance contracts. Test kits are sealed for health and hygiene reasons. If you break that seal, the right of withdrawal for that kit expires under §312g Abs. 2 Nr. 3 BGB. For the coaching part, the right expires once the service is fully performed with your prior express consent under §356 Abs. 4 BGB.
